Surf, what a cool picture. I stared at it for 3 or 4 minutes before it got through that there are other images within. I probably still haven't found them all. OGAL, Glad you stopped by. Always a welcome mat out for airplane people. Data's in and out of here some too. And that kindness thing. I think it might catch-on if we keep at it.

Here's hoping you're feeling fine, and looking forward to a happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (after New Year's Day) because there really isn't any hoopla. There's the food, of course, but that's pure pleaure! We're keeping it simple this year, and that makes me happy.
I've prowl around a bit later and see if I can't find us a nice Thanksgiving song - who knows what I'll come up with ;-)

Hey all. Haven't been around much lately but I came across some really good music yesterday so I thought I'd drop some off here. This is Colbie Caillat performing at a local radio station here in Portland. I was lucky to have been drawn for a seat with only about 30 others for a short promotional show. This was the first song she did, "Falling for you". It was in a room about the size of a 2-car garage and I don't think I was 10 feet from the stage. She was absolutely perfect, voice of an angel. The two guys on guitars were great also, I love watching good acoustic players and I was close enough to see fingers on instruments. The "drummer" was actually playing a card-board box. The next song, "The little things" I found on youtube. It has kind of an easy jazzy feel. Enjoy.

A brief sad note. Three climbers were lost here on Mt.Hood last week. The weather has been deadly on top of the mountain making impossible what are always dangerous and difficult rescue operations. The search, when it can resume, has been re-classified a recovery operation now. Thoughts and prayers for those climbers and their families.

Hi OBOP! You made some good points on MWC's blog today. He has no facts to back himself up with. Our owl nesting box fell to the big wind gusts we had on the last storm. Never has been used by owls, some feral bee colony started some comb in there but that's it. Maybe will try again in another location.

Thanks Cal, but you know how it is on the other side... some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you. Tough luck with your owl box. What kind of owls were you hoping to get? I can ask at the hospital. They might be some help.

I was thinking about you this morning - I left a silly Christmas post on LowerCal's blog. It was an ad for Moonstruck Chocolates out of Portland - their logo, the crescent moon, and stars, in chocolate. Got me thinking about the Pacific NW, and all you folks out that way.
I hope you're feeling great and going to have a good Christmas. I think I remember your work schedule can be strange, like GardenGrrl's - if you do have to work I hope you have something special planned for downtime.
I've got a houseful of relatives coming for the first time in years - it should be fun, to say the least. The best part is - when they show up, I can stop getting ready!
Merry Christmas to you, and best wishes for a joyful season.

Happy holidays to you!!! We have both barn owls and Great Horned owls here. They are not frequent visitors , but we were hoping to get a pair to nest. The big trees are just up the way about 3/4 mile and that is where they usually are. Thanks on the offer to ask the hospital. Many of the big plant growers I deal with are putting up owl nesting boxes to help eliminate rodents. From what they have told me they have been very successful. We were hoping for a little help from the owls on the rodent situation here.

Well, good grief. How could we have let you languish so long?
Happy New Year to you - hope you're feeling great and things are going well. I was listening to a bit on NPR this morning about Colton Harris-Moore - that's what sent me searching for you.
Pop up now and then and let us know what you're up to!

Thanks, I guess Spathy. I had no intention of bringing this blog back and no idea who or what the boot thing is all about. I haven't updated it in over a year. I'll leave it for as long as it stays. Maybe if I get real ambitious I'll post something new. We can all trade holiday greetings. As always all are welcome. It was and still is a happy blog so we can leave our politics in the political blogs where it belongs. Nice of you to stop by and give it a bump Spathy.

Cool Spathy. Do you know that's the mountain, Mt.Hood, I see everyday and will be skiing on after the 1st of the year? It's about an hour from my place to the lifts.

Sorry Oregon. Now I know why you havent posted in/updated your blog. Sad I must say that some (I use the term loosely)"people" have no life and cant respect one another within the context of a blog theme or in any manor at all.
This is the scene that my Cousins have out their window. Well at least when the clouds clear :O) I bet you know exactly what Mt this is,RErrrr Or maybe not. I understand that the locals get few glimpses in the course of the year.
Well Spathy whoever they are think I returned whatever it is I didn't take. Don't know them or recognize any of the handles. Maybe they'll fade away as quickly as they showed up.
I'll guess that mountain is Mt.Ranier but I really don't know. The only reason I can spot Mt.Hood is it's so close and I spend time out there.

Glad spathy bumped you up. I've not been bumping into you recently and am glad to see you here.
I can't even imagine how wonderful it must be to live within "looking distance" of such wonderful mountains. I've started following a Montana photographer who posts a few images every day - he's near the Bitterroot range. Especially during the fall, it was gorgeous.
It's just flat, gray and cold around here today. They're promising sun for tomorrow - amazing how much more tolerable the cold seems when the sun's out. I am going to have to get out the old slow cooker, though. It's suddenly soup weather!

Those huge fires in CO are making me nervous! Last yr. I could smell smoke when wind blew north from some TX drought fires. if the wind shifts... and I also feel so sad for those people in and around Colorado Springs.
So, I replied here, there, and every where.

OrangeRoses thanks for stopping by. Very odd to see my old blog back on the list. Back to the blues is coincidentally appropriate as our yearly blues festival is back in town beginning on the 4th of July and thats where I'll be spending the holiday.
The Colorado fires are very sad, so much total destruction. Our forest/fire policies of the past are at least partially to blame for the intensity of the burn and the speed at which it progresses. Then the drought plus the wind. It was overwellming. I wish we could send them some of our rain. Even for Oregon we've had an exceedingly wet spring.
