Baking and Walking

By: plapman, 11:33 AM GMT on May 31, 2012

Darn I lost todays story again.:(
Yesterday was a quiet day. I did some work on the old clock cabinet, baked brownies and took Abbey for her daily walk. The chubby dog is going to have to loose some weight or quit chasing gophers. She sure gets warmed and comes home panting. A cool drink of water and a rest on the basement floor cools her down quickly though. I'll have to start bringing her a bottle of water on our trek.

Getting Wet and More on Clocks

By: plapman, 12:09 PM GMT on May 30, 2012

Today will be sunny with a high of 18C(64F). UV index 7 or high.
Tonight will remain clear with an overnight low of 5C(41F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
It looks like the rain has finally stopped for a while. I started my walk with Abbey yesterday when the was a small hole in he cloud cover. About 5 minutes from home it started to pour so I turned around and came home.
yesterday i worked a bit on the old clock casr movement. I attached a pendulum rod to it and came up with an idea to make it shiny brass colored. I experimented on an old piece of angle iron using aluminum foil and contact cement. it turns out great. to get the brass color I'll use the wrapping from a caramilk bar on the rod. I should be able to do the same on an old draw pull I have in the hoard to make a shiny bob. It will be a silent clock but I have an idea to make a clock case and put a quartz novement in it that has westmisiter chimes. That's all I need is another clock in my house.:) The young ladies on the street will be safe for a while while I'm busy with the clock projects.
The grandmother clock is working great too. It is almost in sync with a quartz clock I use for checking it's timekeeping. The 2 are only seconds apart.

Webbed Feet For Sale and Another Drug Bust

By: plapman, 12:47 PM GMT on May 29, 2012

Today will remain cloudy with a 60% chance of showers this morning. The wind north will be northerly at 30 km/h (19 mph). The high for today will be 11C(52F). UV index 3 or moderate.
Tonight will bring clearing this evening with the north wind at 20 km/h (12 mph) becoming light early this evening. Tonight's low will only be 1C(34F) with risk of frost.
----------------------------------------------
It looks like the rain on the prairie will finally quit tonight. I don't know what I,m going to do with my webbed toes now. It's good we've only had a steady drizzle and light rain we've never had a deluge like Thunder bay had. In one thunderstorm there they had 100mm (4 inches). They've declared a state of emergency there.
They RCMP have made another drug bust in Portage. 2 more homes were searched and a large quantity of Marijuana was seized and a grow operation was shut down. 3 more arrests were made.
I did mange to get Abbey out on the gopher trails yesterday. I guess I've been breaking the law by letting Abbey run free on our walks. The area where I let her run loose is still within city limits and the city has a bylaw saying dogs should be leashed in the city limits. The place where I let her loose is zoned industrial and has a lot of open space. I always have her leashed in residential areas.

Getting Soggy On The Prairie and I'm So Tight I Squeak

By: plapman, 11:44 AM GMT on May 28, 2012

Today will see periods of drizzle ending this morning then cloudy with a 60% chance of showers late this afternoon. The is the risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. Fog patches that developed overnight will dissipate this morning. Today's high will be 14C(57F). UV index 3 or moderate.
Tonight more showers and the risk of a thunderstorm continuing. Amount 5 to 10 mm(0.2 to 0.4 in). The wind becoming northerly at 20 km/h (12 mph) late this evening. The overnight low will be 5C(41F).
------------------------------------------------
I sure wish it would quit raining. Yesterday I missed my walk with Abbey. It's getting to be just too miserable too be out and about with the critter. If the grass I planted isn't drown it will sure gt a good start.
Yesterday I worked on another ebook project for the Queen. It's a Google book and all the pages are scanned. I guess to make it work I'd have to use an OCR app or try to enlarge all 274 pages. What a task that would be. The book is out of print and the author is dead. All the online book sellers are sold out. I guess if she wants to read it she'll have to do it online or print it out.
Today I'm going to work on the frame for a picture my daughter painted. If I wasn't so tight I'd get a neighbor who has a picture framing business to make one.

A Visit With the Model railway Club and a New Project

By: plapman, 1:28 PM GMT on May 27, 2012

Today will bring periods of rain with the risk of a thunderstorm. it is expected to see 10 to 20 mm(0.4 to 0.8 in). The wind becoming northeast 40 km/h (25 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) early this morning. Today's high will be 12C(54F).
Tonight will bring showers ending near midnight then cloudy. The risk of a thunderstorm will continue this evening. The wind northeast at 40 km/h (25 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) diminishing to 20 km/h (12 mph) early this evening then becoming light after midnight. Tonight;s overnight low will be11C(52F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
esterday I heard on the radio that the local model railway club was having an open house showing off their train layout. I found that hey use a sand painted green for their grass. I works for them but the scale is so much different. My covered wagon is 3 times as tall as their locomotives. I took some photo's of their layout but they turned out all blurry. I checked today and is the little lens on my cell ever dirty. :(
The tree's and buildings sure fooled my eye's. The littlw tres were made from scrubby weeds which I was going to use for clumps of sagebrush in my diorama. To make my plans look as real as their railway I'd need the whple basement. 'm sure the Queen would put a stop to that.
Today I'll switch my activity ot making a frame for one of my daughters paintings from some mahogany baseboard I have left over from the bathroom project. I have the idea of how to do it and the tools It's just a matter of can I do it and will the Queen let me use my table saw and miter saw. If the picture frame works out I have a clock case in mind. Before the stroke i made a couple of clock cases for old movements I had purchased on EBay.

Home Repairs and Another Walk In the Rain

By: plapman, 12:14 PM GMT on May 25, 2012

To ay will be mainly cloudy with a 60% chance of showers late this morning and this afternoon. The wind becoming northerly at 20 km/h (12 mph) early this afternoon. Today's high will only be 7C(45F). UV index 4 or moderate.
Tonight will be overcast with a northerly wind at 20 km/h (12 mph) becoming light early this evening. The low will be 2C(36F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
With the daily rainfall the irrigation pump sits in the garage unused but ready to go. My repairs to the check valve seem to have worked. I checked yesterday and after 2 days it still had 40 psi. If it ever stops raining it will be good to go.
I took Abbey for another walk in the drizzle we had yesterday. The moisture sure doesn't bother her as she came home panting from her run in the gopher trails but she sure smelt bad. :)
I talked with a contractor and got an estimate on new eave troghs, the old galvanized one have been here since we move and are leaking in a couple of places. I'm replacing them with aluminum ones. The'll last longer than me. :) The estimate was a lot lower than I'd thought it would be. The garage door is next on the list to be replaced. I now know why most people keep moving before repairs are needed. I like my old house and with the price of housing now I sure wouldn't want to start another mortgage since mine's been paid off for years.I guess the mortgage cost more than balances the cost of repairs.

A Call From a Long Lost Friend and Memories From Long Ago

By: plapman, 12:39 PM GMT on May 24, 2012

Today will bring increasing cloudiness this morning with fog patches that developed overnight dissipating this morning. The high will be a modest 15C(59F). UV index 4 or moderate.
Tonight will be cloudy with a 60% chance of rain before morning. The wind becoming northerly at 20 km/h (12 mph) after midnight. Low 4C(39F).
-------------------------------------------
What a surprize I got last night. A long lost friend called last night. I haven't heard from him in over 35 years. he moved to British Columbia and we lost track of each other. At one time the Queen and I visited him and his wife on a weekly basis and on most nights drank too much. We chatted about some of the stupid things we had done .
We had bought a small home made 10 foot plywood boat with a 3Hp motor. One time after a way too many cool ones the 2 of us and a friend decided to go fishing on a small river close to Portage. The 3rd guy stood up to relieve himself and capsized the little boat. Luckily we made it to shore safely and salvaged the boat. It's a wonder I survived those hard drinking years. The memories are something I haven't shared with my daughters. It's no wonder the Queen put her foot down and told me to grow up once the family started to arrive.

Tonight will start cloudy with a 40% chance of showers this evening and risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing near midnight. The wind southwest at 30 km/h (19 mph) gusting to 50 km/h (31 mph) becoming light this evening. Low 7C(45F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
Yesterday i started to take Abbey out for her walk and when i got out of the house I realized it was raining. Instead of playinf chicken I donned my rainwear and took her out anyway. the dog didn't mind getting we at all. She did her usual gopher patrol and was really wet when i brought her home. A quick drying with her old towel solved that and she was allowed into the house.
Last night just before the Queen came home I was awakened by the sound of hail. When the Queen got home she said it wasn't fun driving home in the hailstorm. I'll have to check my bedding plants I planted yesterday to see if they were damaged.
Well time to go have a coffee with the Queen she's just been called into work early.

------------------------------------------------- ---
It was a quiet day on the prairie. I got some grass seed planted in the front yard and my irrigation pump up and running. last year I had a problem with the pump holding it's prime. This winter I cleaned up the check valve hoping this would fix the problem. I tried to remove the piece but it's been over 30 year's since a pipe wrench has touched it and it's frozen in place. I I could have gotten it off I would have replaced the check valve with a new one I have in the hoard. If it still leaks I may have to add a second check valve. The pump works great. I bought the thing second hand when we bought this house in 1978, who knows how many gallons of water it brought from the ground. The only thing I've ever done to it is to oil the bearing's yearly in the motor and clean the impeller once. That old pump was sure built to last.

While walking yesterday Abbey had her dream come true. I think this is the first time she's seen the front view of a bunny.:) All was going good untill the bunny started to hop around in it's enclosure then Abbey realized what it was. I had to take Abbey away as she started the chase.
That Abbey certainly is a vicious beast.:)

A Night Out With the Queen and a Brief History of the CCitizens on Patrol Program

By: plapman, 1:09 PM GMT on May 20, 2012

Today will be sunny with fog patches dissipating early this morning. Today's high will be a comfortable 19C(66F). UV index 7 or high.
Tonight will be clear with a low of 7C(45F).
------------------------------------------------- ------
i had a good night last night at the celebration of the 20 years of the Citizens on Patrol Program in Portage. I got to meet alot of people i hadn't seen since I had to quit the program after my first stroke.
The Queen and me were seated with 2 couples who live a completely different lifestyle than us one of which was a former member of the Manitoba Legislature and owns a very large farm in the area. It was interesting to hear of wedding plans for their daughter that may be a destination wedding in Mexico and them flying the minister there to perform the deed. It sure would be a different wedding than the less than $5000 weddings we had for our girls. In fact the middle daughter payed for her own wedding.
In my time with the group I made 2 good calls. one involved lids who had broken into a building on the fair grounds and having a party. A call to the RCMP quickly brought 2 patrol cars and had the bridge to the island where the fair grounds blocked off. Luckily we caught the party before any damage was done to the public property. and another was finding an elderly gentleman who was blind and suffering from dementia. He had wandered out of his apartment and was walking along our Crescent Lake trying to find his home. A call then brought a patrol car and the man was escorted home safely.
Even if not caught in the act I'm sure just the presence of a vehicle in the area would deter a lot of crime.
There are now 45 members of he group who patrol the city anytime from midnight to 6 am. The group in Portage was started by an RCMP officer who wanted to establish a repertoire between the police and citizens. Portage was the first group of it's kind in Manitoba. There are now over 40 COPP groups in Manitoba acting as extra eyes and ears for law enforcement.

Finishing the Ebook Project and Cleaning Up Portage la Prairie

By: plapman, 11:48 AM GMT on May 19, 2012

Today will be cloudy with rain beginning this morning and ending late this afternoon. There is also the risk of a thunderstorm. There is expected to be 10 to 20 mm(0.4 to 0.8 in) of rain in total. The wind will be northwest at 20 km/h (12 mph). Today's high will be High 15C(59F).
Tonight will see clearing this evening and the northwest wind at 20 km/h (12 mph) becoming light early this evening. Low 4C(39F).
------------------------------------------------- ----
Yesterday I finished converting the ebook for the Queen and put it on her ebook reader. It sure was a big job but now she'll be able to carry the ebook with her to read while waiting for a train and while sitting outside.
The RCMP did a major cleanup of the drug trade here in Portage. 21 dealers were arrested at 7 different homes. As well as drugs a number of restricted weapons were siezed including hand guns, sawed off shotguns and a machete. A machete is not illeagle to own as long as it's not intended purpose is to be used as a weapon. I have one hanging in my garage and used it to remove parts of the dead lilac bush.
What I thought was good is that they RCMP also published the names of the accused and the charges laid. The article in the local news said that Operation Demerit, as it was called, has been in the works since October.
Great Job RCMP<

Keeping Busy On the Prairie

By: plapman, 12:21 PM GMT on May 18, 2012

Tonight will start partly cloudy then becoming cloudy late this evening while the northerly flow at 30 km/h (19 mph) becoming light after midnight. The low tonight will be 12C(54F).
------------------------------------------------- ----
I never got Abbey out for her walk yesterday. I thought the 30 degree weather would be a bit much for her.
The Queen has given me another project to keep me off the front lawn rating the young ladies in their shorts. She has found a free website which has a book for her genealogy project. The book has 74 sections and each has to be downloaded in text format so that she can read it on her new ebook reader. Yesterday i did 16 sections before she made me quit after 2 hours. Each section contains up to 20 pages. I'll be busy for a while.:) and so will she reading the book.
it looks like I'm going to have to cut the back lawn today and get my pump up from the basement into the garage. I have some grass that needs patching on both lawns. I guess I'll have to do the back lawn in small sections so that the little girls can play out there without getting muddy from the extra watering it will need.
Tomorrow we have a dinner to attend. It's to celebrate the 20 anniversary of the Citizen's on Patrol Program. I was the statistician for the group for 11 of those years keeping track of who went on patrol, the time they spent and the mileage they put in. The city pays for the mileage the volunteers to cover the cost of fuel. I had to quit participating in the group after my first stroke due to vision problems. It will be good to see the members I have worked with and it should be a good evening with a meal and entertainment.

Tonight will see clearing late this evening but gthe risk of a thunderstorm this evening as the wind swings to the. northwest at 20 km/h (12 mph) late this evening. Tonights low will be 12C(54F).
------------------------------------------------- --
Did I ever have problems getting my computer running prperly this morning. Last night I tried to install a freeware program to convert a pdf file to an epub file for the Queen's new ebook reader. It installed a new toolbar and changed my home page as well as messing with the webcam. I ran my antivirus program which found nothing except tracking cookies. This morning I disabled the toolbar, reset my home page and reinstalled the driver for the webcam. All seems good now. I'll run a deep scan with the antivirus again and check.
The Queens Ebook reader is quite the device besides reading ebooks it will play movie files, mp3's and show photos. it will read the pdff files but the display isn't as good as an epub file. I'll keep checking the web for a good malware free program for her.
The Queen just passed by, time for our morning coffee.

Wind Storm Claims One Life

Today will bring increasing cloudiness this morning with the wind becoming southeast at 20 km/h (12 mph) gusting to 40 km/h (25 mph) late this afternoon. a high of 19C(66F) is expected. UV index 6 or high.
Tonight will see clearing with the southeast wind at 20 km/h (12 mph) gusting to 40 km/h (25 mph) and a low of 10C(50F).
------------------------------------------------- --------
The windstorm mentioned in yesterdays blog claimed one life. 2 gentlemen were fishing in a small 14 foot boat ,on lake Manitoba, and which overtopped by a wave and capsized. One of the gentleman managed to swim to shore but the other is still missing. The storm came up so quickly they never had a chance to bring the boat to shore before it struck.
The city is still cleaning up broken branches and downed trees some of which were uprooted.
I can't imagine how people survive hurricanes with winds much stronger than we experienced.
I got Abbey out on our walk along the gopher trails yesterday and didn't see any damage along our route.

A Windy Evening and Another Trip to the Doctor.

By: plapman, 12:43 PM GMT on May 15, 2012

Today will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a 40% chance of showers this morning then clearing this morning. The wind will be northerly at 20 km/h (12 mph) gusting to 40 km/h (25 mph). A high of 18C(64F) is expected. UV index 6 or high.
Tonight will be clear with a northerly wind at 20 km/h (12 mph) gusting to 40 km/h (25 mph) then becoming light late this evening. The overnight low will be 6C(43F).
------------------------------------------------- -------
last night we had a really strong wind storm with sustained winds of 100kn/hr(60mph). Trees were knocked down, a windmill at our island park had the blades ripped off and being garbage and recycle pick up this morning everyone was scrambling to recover the waste from the streets. Electric poles were down in some areas and some `35 homes are still without power. The storm was caused by a cold front moving into the area after yesterdays high of 29C. I was in my bathroom doing my Dorthy domestic duties and missed the pick up.
A trip to the doctor confirmed the Queens thoughts that i am suffering from the onset of dementia. His diagnosis is thta it's vascular dementia caused by my series of strokes and tias. It shouldn't worsen if I don't suffer any more stroke. The doctor is setting up a heart MIR to check on the clot that was seen in my heart. If that clot is gone then I can quit the coumadin treatment any the dementia shouldn't worsen. The doctor is also setting an appointment with a seniors specialist to confirm his diagnonis. I guess that's why I've been losing so many posts lately.

Relearning to BBQ and More Praise For Abbey

By: plapman, 11:14 AM GMT on May 14, 2012

Today will bring a mix of sun and cloud with the risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. The wind becoming westerly at 30 km/h (19 mph) gusting to 50 km/h (31 mph) this morning. The high will be a balmy 29C(84F). UV index 6 or high.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with the risk of a thunderstorm this evening. The wind west erly at 30 km/h (19 mph) gusting to 50 km/h (31 mph) becoming northerly at 30 km/h (19 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) late this evening then light before morning. Tonights low will be 4C(39F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
I tried the pire pit last night and I think I've forgotten how to cook over coals. :) With the strong winds yesterday I didn't want to start a fire so I used charcoal left over from the grandaughters fire the other night. I ended up starting the steaks on the firepit and finishing them on the gas BBQ. I guess I'll have to buy some ready made charcoal the next time I use the firepit as a BBQ. A good thing is that the time over the smoldering coals did add to the flavor. I'll do better next time.
With a high of 29 expected today I'll have to dig the kid's small plastic pool out of the hoard and set it up for the little girls to splash in.
I got another compliment for Abbey's behavior yesterday. At the end of her free run I whistled once and she came running and out her heaed in the loop of the choke chain I use for walking her. A gentleman, driving past, stopped and said " Is that dog ever well trained". He had a small lapdog which he said if he let loose would run away. I think any dog can be taught to behave like Abbey if thier given the chance. They may run away at the start but will come back when called if they know who's the leader of the pack and praised when the do return. A dog always wants to please it's master.

The Queen's Birthday

By: plapman, 12:23 PM GMT on May 13, 2012

Today

Mainly sunny. Wind west 20 km/h (12 mph) increasing to 40 km/h (25 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) this morning. High 27C(81F). UV index 6 or high.
Tonight

Clear. Wind west 40 km/h (25 mph) gusting to 60 km/h (37 mph) becoming light late this evening. Low 8C(46F).
------------------------------------------------- ------
I had yesterdays blog all done and lost it again. it must be me messing it up.
Yesterdays project was to remove a dead lilac bush from the yard. What a tangled mess that was. There seem to be some new shoots coming up so I may have a new tree in a few years or maybe I'll keep cutting them off and find a way to kill the root. The thing never produced many beautiful smelling flowers anyway.
I had a good day with the Queen yesterday as we celebrated her birthday. I tease her every year that she catching up to me in age as her birthday is in may as mine is in September. For a shorth time she's only a year younger than me. :) I really surprized her with apainting of the daughters that she really wanted. I had had it shipped to a friends and they delivered it to us yesterday morning.
Tonight wer're going to use a small portabe fire pit the granddaughter purchased to BBQ some steak. It will give us the real BBQ'd flavor that a propane BBQ can't as well as the enjoyment of sitting and watching the fire. It's funny the city requires a permit for the small 30 inch diameter fire pit and the fire department has to come and inspect the thing before you can have a fire. I guess they don't want people having bonfires in the city and burning houses down.

I came back. I had a vampire appointment early this morning and had to some banking morning before the Quen went to work.
Since I scolded Abeey she has behaved herself. She's even waiting for me at the point where I hook her to the lease. She sure learns quickly.

Health Problems with the new Grandson

By: plapman, 12:15 PM GMT on May 08, 2012

Today will start cloudy then clearing late this afternoon. The wind becoming north at 20 km/h (12 mph) this morning. The high for today will be 15C(59F). UV index 4 or moderate.
Tonight will be clear with a low of 4C(39F).
------------------------------------------------- --
The new grandson is having problems. he's currently in Children's Hospital at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Center. My daughter took him to the doctor as he was jaundiced, lethargic and dehydrated and the doctor sent him to Winnipeg as he didn't know the cause of the little guy's problems.
I didn't get out for my walk with Abbey yesterday due to the wet rainy conditions but I did get to cleaning what remains of the hoard in the garage. Gosh there was a lot of stuff that needed organizing. I installed a shelf for old stereos and speakers, made room to put the snow blower, lawnmower and table saw to the side. I still have to find a place for the miter saw but I have a corner it will fit in once that area is sorted out. I soon may even be able to fit a vehicle in there.:)

I guess with the Queen home all day I'll be busy again plus i have some work to do on my pump to get it ready for the coming season.
I still don't know where I found the time to work.

A Chore done and A Short Walk with Abbey

By: plapman, 11:28 AM GMT on May 04, 2012

=================================================
Today will bring increasing cloudiness with a 60% chance of showers late this afternoon. The wind becoming east at 20 km/h (12 mph) this morning. Today's high will be 15C(59F). UV index 3 or moderate.
Tonight will be cloudy with the 60% chance of showers continuing. The wind southeast at 20 km/h (12 mph) becoming light before morning as the low falls to 7C(45F).
--------------------------------------------
Yesterday I got my garage door in operation again. It seems one of the cables attached to the spring on 1 side had slipped making it hard to open the door/ I think I have it a bit too tight now but the connections may tighten under the pressure of the springs.
The legs still feel a bit odd from the episode the height before last but I did take Abbey out for a short walk. I think if the brain realizes that i need those legs in tip top condition for my daily walks it will reroute the circuitry. from what the neurologist have told me it can do that with the legs and arms but if the problem is with the senses it can't. One neurologist told me that it was part of evolution. he said if you can't see, hear or smell you can still move but if you can't move your eaten. :)
Today with the wet conditions in the forecast I think I'll plant some grass seed in the back yard. it's in pretty bad shape from the kids over packing it while we were fostering and when the Queen had ran a daycare.t and the previous dog over fertilizing when he was sick. The dirt and muddy area are like a magnet to the little girls who like to dig in it.

Another Ride in the Big White Truck

By: plapman, 11:28 AM GMT on May 03, 2012

Today will see a few showers ending early this afternoon then cloudy. The wind will be northeast at 20 km/h (12 mph). The high will only be 9C(48F).
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 2C(36F).
------------------------------------------------- -
it was a busy day for the plapman yesterday. I walked to my eyeman to get mt glasses adjusted then stopped at afriends for a chat. he's been having health problems too. He was sheduled for knee surgery in October but when the checked his health condition the found a blockage in his heart arteries. So instead of the knee operation he ended up with a triple bypass. He has yet to have he kne surgery. While walking home my legs started to feel strange, like walking on air. My only thought was that if I'm going to have a ceasure i was goung to do it at home and not along the road. Once home the granddaughter called the Queen who took me to the ER. There the doctors dianosed a stroke and with a new policy implimented recently I was sent by ambulane to the stroke clinic in Winnipeg. They confirmed the stroke as a TIA but also said that due to the unknown state of the clot once found in my heart the couldn't have given me the clot buster as it may have sent particles of the heart clot throughout the system. I guess untill they redo the echo work I may as well stay home if I feel I'm having a stroke as there is nothing the doctors can do for me. It's getting pretty bad. The paramedics all know me and I strating to recognize them. The lady on the return trip was with me on a trip for an MIR and the one one the trip in has picked me up at home and even knows my address by heart. I sure wish they'd find a solution to my problems.
On the bright side the new grandson is doing well nad him and the daughter were released yesterday. All is well with them. I now have a new grandson whom I can teach to be rotten.:) then send him home to mom. Revenge is sweet!

Plapman is a Grandpa Again

By: plapman, 11:56 AM GMT on May 02, 2012

Today will see showers ending this morning then clearing. Fog patches that developed overnight dissipating this morning. Today's high will be 12C(54F). UV index 5 or moderate.
Tonight will bring increasing cloudiness with a 30% of showers overnight as the temp drops to 3C(37F).
------------------------------------------------- --
I became a grandpa again for the 9th time. The youngest away from homw daughter presented me with a new grandson. The doctors induced the little one to greet the world a month early but he was still a healthy 8lb. 9 oz fellow. She has a history of giving birth to big babies as the last 2 were over 10 lbs so the doctors thought it was time before either her or the were injured in the birthing process.

Another Drawer repaired , A Bad Abbey and a New resident T the Northern Edge

By: plapman, 1:19 PM GMT on May 01, 2012

Today

A few showers ending early this morning then mainly cloudy. A few showers beginning this afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h (12 mph) this morning. High 21C(70F). UV index 5 or moderate.
Tonight
Mainly cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers this evening and risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing overnight. Low 7C(45F).
------------------------------------------------- ---
Another quiet day in the neighbor hood.
I did get my drawer repaired and the junk removed. It's funny how the drawers almost empty when the stuff that doesn't belong there is taken out. :)
Abbey got into trouble yesterday on our walk. She got more interest in a gopher hole than me and didn't come when I called her. I had to go back to get her. For that she got a scolding and put on a short lease for the rest of the walk.
A woodpecker has moved into the Norther Edge. I tried to get a picture of the noisy bird but when I got the camera and the zoom set the bird had flown away. :( I'll get that flying noisemaker some time this summer for sure.
