Retired and loving it. If I'd have known about retirement befor I started my 40 year career with the government of Manitoba I'd have retired first. :)

Today is Monday, Feb. 22, the 53rd day of 2010. There are 312 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Feb. 22, 1980, the "Miracle on Ice" occurred in Lake Placid, N.Y. as the United States Olympic hockey team upset the Soviets, 4-3. (The U.S. team went on to win the gold medal.)
On this date:
In 1732 (New Style date), the first president of the United States, George Washington, was born in Westmoreland County in the Virginia Colony.
In 1784, a U.S. merchant ship, the Empress of China, left New York for the Far East to trade goods with China.
In 1810, according to some sources, Polish composer Frederic Chopin was born. (Chopin, however, claimed March 1 as his birthday.)
In 1862, Jefferson Davis, already the provisional president of the Confederacy, was inaugurated for a six-year term following his election in Nov. 1861.
In 1909, the Great White Fleet, a naval task force sent on a round-the-world voyage by President Theodore Roosevelt, returned after more than a year at sea.
In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge delivered the first radio broadcast from the White House as he addressed the country over 42 stations.
In 1940, the 14th Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso) was enthroned at age four in Lhasa, Tibet
The snow has stopped for a bit but now we are seeing a bit of ice rain. Going to be a mix bag of crap today here. Hopefully it will eventually turn to rain and melt all this white stuff that has fallen this morning.
Have a great day dear one. Thinking of you and the Queen. Bless her for putting up with one mischievous old rascal. Heee heee hee.
Big hugs to all.
Looks like we are back to chilly weather again and glad I am off the hill as they may have rain/snow combo tonight.
So happy to hear that you're feeling stronger today after having a nice long rest and TLC. Nice to hear you speak kindly and admirably of your devoted wife, as it's nice to feel appreciated in spite of the fact that our respective fellas have been through so much.
Hope your weather week holds up better than ours, as tomorrow into the weekend brings a messy mix of rain, sleet and snow. We could be having a bad storm from Thurs. into the weekend. YUK! Nevertheless, we're all stocked up and generator ready just in case.
HOPE YOU HAVE CONTINUED PROGRESS DURING THE COURSE OF THIS WEEK AND THAT WE ALL CAN HANG IN THERE TILL SPRINGTIME! A season I barely remember at this point! LOL'S!!
I had a wonderful, long day at work, and a good thing it is. We have another winter storm warning for Houston tomorrow - with snow! I am just amazed. Time to pull in the baby plants and put out the blankets again for the kitties.
I'm really happy to hear things are better today. What's that old saying? Two steps forward, one step back? But, we still go forward.
Greetings to the Queen, too. She sounds like she's as much of a trouper as you are!
Best wishes on a continued recovery. As I go out "on the road again" for my marathon training this year, I again realize how fortunate I am to have the health I have. And, with each stride I take during my training, I will pray for and remember others I know that, although not able to be out there running with me in person, they are in my thoughts. Recover and be well!
and read the news - I pray you well....
