I'm Glad I'm Not You, Cus Then I Wouldn't Be Me

Looks like we have a new sheriff in town with the creation of a community director whose first call to duty is to explain the rules once again to all us miscreants. How come we couldn't have someone like Julie, the cruise director on Love Boat all those years ago. Then we could have a cool bartender like Isaac, We already have a chief purser in Auburn and if Doc Masters garners a little more gray hair he will make a great Capt. Stubing.

Anyways, the Walking Tall intro left me non-plussed as I would rather hear the great innovations they have for the community rather than rehashing the same rules that have never been uniformly enforced in the first place.

On to the topic at hand, once again there's been talk concerning the name of Pro Football's Washington Redskins. It seems there are rumblings by local politicians concerning the derogatory meaning of their name. Now personally I find it offensive, however depending on the polls an overwhelming majority of people feel their name should stay as it is. In fact 90 percent of Native Americans have no issue with their name.

One of the things i found puzzling listening to talk shows were two distinct thoughts depending if the speaker leaned conservative or liberal. Almost to a person when someone who leaned liberal spoke on the topic although they found no wrong in the name of the team they all thought it would be offensive to call someone a "redskin." Now if they leaned conservative for a strange reason they equated this over sensitivity with God not being allowed in schools, courts and government. Both of these make no sense whatsoever with me.

So the questions over this run rampant in my head. Is the name offensive? If it is offensive should the right to use it be predicated by public poles. If even 10 percent of people find something offensive should their right to a peaceful life experience be more important to the rest who could care less? Are we too sensitive to name calling and at what point have we crossed the line?

Oh well, we'll keep it easy and go with this as the QOD:

If you were in control of the Washington Redskins, would you change their name?

It's rant time. As many of you know this time of year our resident weather weenies come out of hibernation and start the annual guessing game of how many hurricanes and how many will come ashore on the CONUS and of course how much destruction will they wreak. I can't stand it for the mere fact that it's guessing and when the great Colorado University boys with their millions of dollars in funding and their sophisticated equipment can't get it right, if a weenie happ...

Thank you Murray for bringing up another aspect of forgiveness, forgiving ourselves. I think it's much easier to forgive others than myself. Oh, and I caught the dig to boot, it made me laugh.

North Korea is enjoying keeping themselves in the news lately, as they announce attack plans bombing America to announcing they are in a state of war and telling embassies they can not guarantee their safety. They've made for some funny Facebook posts and I've laugh...

A long time ago I looked into a job in Henderson NV. It was March when I visited, the temps were in the 80's and the wind blew about 40 MPH and I told myself that I would never live there. So I didn't, but El Paso is no different. Spring has sprung and with it wind and dust storms are also here. yesterday saw gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour and dust was almost fog-like in it's density. Nope, I'm not moving any time soon but I have to question myself as to why.<...

The gypsy came into my blog! Wow, another honor. It makes me smile, we may not post much anymore, however we are still here.

Before anyone harps at me, I know that you should never talk about politics and religion. Shoot me as I talk about anything and everything and hope that the friends I have can show enough respect to disagree in a manner that is respectful.

There has been a ton of talk about gay marriage. I have friends for it and some ag...
