It is easy to be discouraged by the task before us, the specter of an out of control Federal Government is a daunting power to contemplate facing down. But face them down we must for if we do not at least a generation, your children's generation, will suffer something no American generation has ever endured-the tyranny of government over liberty.
Oh we have had some pretty tough challenges as a country some of them self-inflicted, but never have we stood so close to the precipice of servitude to a government that governs us rather than represents us. Worse it will not be our elected representatives which we will still have the power to dismiss at our pleasure, instead it will be the faceless bureaucracy that can neither be seen or held accountable for their actions.
A shadow government is in place and expanding. A government who knows no party, no loyalty, no patriotic restraints but is merely a slave to its own growing power, The power of regulations and laws given to it by misguided politicians seeking to improve society who have instead begun to imprison it.
The massive bills that the current government is trying to inflict on us will not be for our benefit but rather they will control us. The shackles of regulations around our ankles are soft compared to the iron collars that will be put around our children's throats as the suffocating bands of these regulations expand, multiply and tighten as they inevitably will.
If these bills pass the congress and are made law, the Federal Government will not only control your health care they will control your life. This is not some grand new experiment, this is the failed system tried over and over again always to the detriment of the society it has been forced upon. Whether it be the communist run government controlled system of Soviet Russia or the seemingly less authoritarian social system of the Britain's National Health System, the result is always the same. When government controls the health system of their citizens the citizens loose control of their very life. The government controls who is healed and who is not when and when not and all this becomes a matter of impersonal regulations determined and administered by faceless and unsympathetic bureaucracies.
Those who believe that government should control such important decisions in a person’s life are at best misguided. Those that believe that this need not be the outcome of the path our government is now set upon are either seriously uninformed or naive to the history of government, a naivety that could be dispelled by a simple trip to your local DMV.
We are nearing the end game of this attempt to infringe on our very lives. I beseech all those that cherish freedom to let your voices be heard. There is no election that can undo this, there is no future administration that will make it void, for once it becomes law the tyrannical forces of the bureaucracy will swallow up their new power and inflict them on the American peoples for generations. This is the ultimate Creep and it must be defeated or it will lead to imprisonment then revolution.
UPDATE:
I feel compelled to update this based upon the discussion with GSM below.
First nobody loves and respects the Constitution more than I. I believe it to be the single greatest political document ever writtn. The problem is that the Constitution is supposed to be a binding document, defining the role of government, the limits of government and the rights of the people. It does little good to have a contract if one party to that contract does not even believe in that contract. In fact not only do they not believe in it, they believe it stands in the way of the power of government to do what is "fair" and "right" for the citizens in their eyes.
Although GSM and perhaps others take offense to my using the word "revolution" above, the fact is that a revolution is already happening. If revolution is defined as the overthrowing of a government, well our government is being overthrown by those now in it. The revolution that will be required is not the overthrowing of the Constitution, which IS in fact that which WE THE PEOPLE depend on to govern the government, it is the re-institution of the Constitution to its proper place in our society. So in fact I misspoke what is required is not a revolution but rather a counter-revolution. That is much more in keeping with the tenor of our times.
Elected representatives, members of congress and Senators have been asking, no "pleading" with the American people to march on Washington to protect our rights. Elected representatives of the people have warned of a dire threat to our Republican form of government if the current laws now under consideration are enacted. Representatives of the people on both sides of the aisle have warned that this Administration is overstepping and attempting to overstep it's Constitutional bounds. It is not like I am some fringe terrorist here, I am just an American who loves my country and wants to protect it from those who are attempting to subversively "transform" it. There are many who accused Bush of the same thing and in many ways they were right, where are they now?
All around us we see proof of the revolution that is taking place not against our government but against WE THE PEOPLE and the Constitution put in place to protect us. That revolution against US is not using violence, but it is a revolution none the less, I have never advocated violence, but I do advocate a revolution or rather a counter-revolution against those who use the power of the Constitution to destroy the Constitution.
And in the end only WE THE PEOPLE can do that.

I am a big fan of Sarah Palin. I was a fan before she was even known by most people and well before she was picked by John McCain to be his running mate. I had heard about her a year or so before that event in regards to her stand against the alarmist view of global warming. That and the few things that I read about her made me a fan, my admiration has only grown and last year my wife and I went and saw her at a campaign ralley and I knew that she was and is somethi...

By Thomas SowellMany years ago, at a certain academic institution, there was an experimental program that the faculty had to vote on as to whether or not it should be made permanent.I rose at the faculty meeting to say that I knew practically nothing about whether the program was good or bad, and that the information that had been supplied to us was too vague for us to have any basis for voting, one way or the other. My suggestion was that we get more concrete infor...

Back in the seventies when it seemed that everything in America was broken and needed to be fixed, actually like today, there were a couple of problems that not surprisingly our Federal Government was hell bent on solving. The first was that the prices for oil, thus gas was going through the roof due to a new global entity called OPEC. So our ever attuned leaders in Washington decided to tackle the problem by creating the Department of Energy to come up with ways to ...

Dismantling AmericaBy Thomas SowellJust one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?Did you think that another "czar" would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers-- that i...
