High pressure will become the dominant feature through the rest of the week.Fairly straightfoward forecast through the week, as high pressure builds firmly into the area. A trough of low pressure over Califorina has cut off from the main flow and will drift through the Great Basin this week.Very slow moving low pressure will bring clouds and a chance of showers through the remainder of the week. Rainfall should enhance somewhat later tonight and Wednesday as disturbance now in So. Utah rotates around and into the north. High pressure is in control and will remain throughout the week.Same pattern in store for the next several days, with the only threat of changes being a slight increase in moisture from the south this weekend, but this looks very sparse at this point. Models show a trough sliding north of the area by late Monday, but have been inconsistent with the timing and strength. Professional meteorologists have a wide range of forecast tools at their disposal, not the least of which is computer models. These include short range forecast models, which provide data up to 84 hours, and longer range models which provide forecast solutions up to 16 days. They also have much more detailed information available to them that the novice, (me) does not. I have a great respect for these people, especially in this state, where a forecast can get turned...
