My garden is ruined
Posted by: tropicalthought, 3:33 AM GMT on January 31, 2010 +0
All this rain has messed up my garden big time. At least the pine tree is doing well, but everything else is sicker.

It must have been all the rain. I dug them up and planted them in a prime location.

Loud Thunder

The loudest thunder I had ever heard happened around 5:30am. It seemed to last for a very long time, like a sonic boom that shock the house.

New Years Day
Posted by: tropicalthought, 3:23 PM GMT on January 01, 2010 +0
I have not been really out yet to experience the weather. It feels not too cold and they said it won't rain, but it's overcast. I am jealous of people who can see some snow for New Years, but just today. I want to see the world blanketed in thick renewing snow.

We did have some rain later one, but not enough to really water the soil. When we have light rains it makes the weeds grow, but does not really water the plant roots. They still need more water. Out in nature we can support many attractive plants in California due to not having regular rain fall. Even in the winter we may not have enough rain fall. That is why California native plants are so unattractive. I have seen people who landscape in all natives. They think they don't have to water and they don't water, but the plants still look terrible. All dried up and having thorns very often so the garden is not a place you want to romp. Very well maintained California natives look like they are dying in the summer. Then in the winter you have to deal with all the weeds, so it's still a huge amount of work.
