The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter

very low wind chills.

* Accumulations... 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts.

* Timing... snow this afternoon and tonight. Very low wind chills
tonight through Sunday morning.

* Impacts... snow and blowing snow creating slick roads and areas
of reduced visibility. Very low wind chill values may lead to
hypothermia and frostbite.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph...
starting to subside Saturday afternoon.

* Temperatures... teens to single digits.

* Wind chill readings... 5 to 15 below zero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
