... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to
7 PM EST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for freezing rain... sleet and snow... which is in
effect from midnight tonight to 7 PM EST Thursday.

* Locations... areas along and west of the Blue Ridge... south of
the Interstate 64 corridor.

* Hazard types... freezing rain... sleet and snow.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches
with locally higher amounts... along with areas of icing where
ice may become up to a tenth of an inch thick.

* Timing... rain will change to freezing rain and sleet after
midnight Thursday... then change to mainly snow after sunrise
Thursday.

* Impacts... snow and sleet will cover the roads leading to
hazardous travel conditions.

* Winds... northwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Statement as of 7:33 AM EST on March 04, 2015

... Areas of fog this morning...

Widespread fog will continue this morning. Expect visibilities
below a quarter mile at times. Vdot sensor along Interstate 77
through Fancy Gap reported visibilities of a few hundred feet
between mile marker 1 and 8.

Proceed with extra caution if traveling this morning. Use low
beam headlights... slow down and allow extra time to reach your
destination.
