Statement as of 12:21 AM EDT on August 02, 2015

... A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in
effect until 930 am EDT Sunday for north central Hillsborough
County...

* at 1212 am EDT... local law enforcement and emergency management
reported ongoing flooding across the warned area. The Tampa Police
Department reports flooding on the following roadways. Flooding is
occurring at the intersection of Manhattan Avenue and Gandy
Blvd... the intersection of Neptune street and Dale Mabry
Highway... Kennedy Blvd between Rome Avenue and north Blvd... the
intersection of Swann Avenue and Armenia Avenue... and the
intersection of Armenia Avenue and Cleveland street. In
addition... the Gandy bridge has been closed at westshore
Boulevard... .and both the northbound and southbound exit ramps
from the veterans expressway onto Hillsborough Avenue are closed
due to flooding. Also... the intersection of Jamaica street north
and crest Avenue west will be closed due to a depression.
Motorists are advised to avoid these areas.

* Tampa police is urging motorists to avoid the following
intesections as well... Platt street and tampania... Moody Avenue
and Swann Avenue... Dale Mabry Highway and San Miguel.

* Flooding has been slow to recede and additional intermittent periods
of rainfall are expected to re-develop overnight. Any additional
rainfall will add to the ongoing flooding concerns.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tampa... Temple Terrace... Brandon... Lutz... East Lake-Orient Park...
Tampa International Airport... Egypt Lake-leto... University... Palm
River-Clair mel... town 'n' country... macdill Air Force Base... Lake
magdalene... Citrus Park... greater Carrollwood... greater
Northdale... Riverview... Keystone... West Park... Davis Islands and
Peter O Knight Airport.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Little Manatee River at Wimauma
* until Monday evening.
* At 09 PM Saturday the stage was 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 13.2 feet through after midnight tonight.
The river is expected to fall below flood stage Monday early afternoon.
* Impact... at 13.0 feet... the canoe rental area floods.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... the river overflows its banks.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 14.3 feet on Sep 26
2013.

... Flood Watch now in effect through Monday afternoon...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of FL and west central Florida... including the
following in FL... coastal ... Citrus... coastal Hernando...
coastal Hillsborough... coastal Levy... coastal Pasco... inland
Citrus... inland Hernando... inland Hillsborough... inland Levy
and inland Pasco. In west central Florida... Pinellas.

* Through Monday afternoon

* the potential for excessive rainfall through Monday with
localized accumulation totals exceeding 6 inches.

* Saturated soils and the potential for additional heavy rainfall
through Monday will increase the risk of areal and street
flooding. If possible... clear drainage systems of any debris
which may become clogged in flooding rains.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible during the next
24 to 36 hours. Residents living in flood prone areas should take
action to protect property.
