Special Statement
Statement as of 5:28 AM CST on March 03, 2015

... A significant winter storm will impact the region Wednesday night
and Thursday morning...

A strong cold front will move across southern Tennessee and northern
Alabama on Wednesday afternoon... with widespread precipitation
expected north of the front on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
As temperatures steadily fall... rain will change to freezing rain
across northwest Alabama and southern Tennessee by midnight. Freezing
rain will encompass the entire region early Thursday morning... with a
mixture of sleet and freezing rain expected across the northwest.
Lingering light snow and flurries will be possible as precipitation
diminishes after sunrise Thursday.

Ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter of an inch are expected
before sunrise Thursday... with snow accumulations ranging from a
trace to around one half of an inch possible after sunrise. In
addition to the precipitation... north winds of 10 to 15 mph will
create wind chills in the teens on Thursday morning. Residents of the
Tennessee Valley should begin preparations now for this significant
winter storm.
