Showers and thunderstorms will move into the Plains, while also continuing across the East Coast on Friday. A low pressure system over the Rocky Mountains will persist on its eastward track and move into the Plains. Flow around this system will create northward flow, pulling abundant moisture and energy in from the Gulf of Mexico. This will allow for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop across the Southern Plains again on Friday, spreading northward through the Central and Northern Plains. There is a slight chance that these storms will turn severe across northeastern Colorado, into western Kansas and Nebraska. Large hail and strong winds are likely in these areas, with possibly a tornado or two.

Meanwhile in the East, a trough of low pressure and associated cold front will slowly move eastward and offshore the East Coast on Friday. This system will allow for showers and thunderstorms to persist from the Mid-Atlantic states through Maine. Severe thunderstorms are not likely in these areas, but periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds will persist as this system lingers over the Northeast through Friday night.

Out West, an area of low pressure continues spinning over the Pacific Northwest, maintaining onshore flow. This will bring more rain showers to Oregon and Washington, with snow showers possible at highest elevations.

... Frost advisory in effect from 2 am to 8 am EDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a frost
advisory... which is in effect from 2 am to 8 am EDT Saturday.

Hazardous weather...

* temperatures are expected to dip into the 33 to 37 degree range
   across much of the area tonight.

* The coldest readings will likely be found across central lower
   Michigan where readings will drop to around the freezing mark.

* Light winds and mainly clear skies will set the stage for a
   quick temperature fall after sunset.

Impacts...

* gardens and Flowers that have already been planted will be
   susceptible to a frost tonight.

* Take precautions to protect your early season plants and
   Flowers from the frost and near freezing temperatures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a frost advisory is issued when frost is expected to develop
   during the growing season. Those with agricultural interests in
   the advised area are advised to protect tender vegetation.
   Also... potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered
   or brought inside away from the cold.
