Dense Smoke Advisory, Lake Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:19 AM MDT on June 30, 2015

... Dense smoke advisory now in effect until noon MDT today...
... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am this morning to
9 PM MDT this evening for Fort Peck Lake...

The dense smoke advisory is now in effect until noon MDT today. A
lake Wind Advisory for Fort Peck Lake remains in effect from 9 am
this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening.

* Timing... the smoke will continue most of this morning.
Conditions will improve around noon. Northwest winds will
increase on the west end of the lake by 9 am and in the east
end including the Dry Arm and Fort Peck area by noon.

* Winds... northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph. Some higher gusts
possible.

* Visibility... as low as a quarter mile at times.

* Impacts... dense smoke has made for poor air quality this
morning. For Fort Peck Lake... choppy waters and high waves are
likely which could tip or swamp small craft. With winds from the
northwest... the Dry Arm will likely see the biggest waves.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People with health issues should stay indoors with air
conditioning if possible. Seek medical attention if necessary.

Boaters should use extreme caution if venturing onto Fort Peck
Lake. For your personal safety... avoid the open waters. Stay
close to shore or around protected areas.

A dense smoke advisory means widespread fires will create smoke...
limiting visibilities. If driving... slow down... keep your
headlights on low beams... and leave plenty of distance ahead of
you in case a sudden stop is needed.
