Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:11 PM CDT on May 24, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Monday morning...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Missouri...
south central Missouri and southwest Missouri... including the
following areas... in central Missouri... Camden... Maries...
Miller... Phelps and Pulaski. In south central Missouri...
Dent... Howell... Oregon... Shannon and Texas. In southwest
Missouri... Dallas... Douglas... Laclede... Ozark... Webster and
Wright.

* Through Monday morning

* showers and some thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will impact
southern Missouri tonight. Additional rainfall amounts of one
to two inches with locally higher amounts are expected.

* This excessive rainfall may result in flash flooding of small
streams and low water crossings as well as significant rises and
flooding of some main Stem rivers.

Those with outdoor recreational plans this Memorial Day weekend
including camping and floating along area rivers and streams
should be alert for rising water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
