Nowcast | as of 8:04 am CDT on April 25, 2015

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms stretch from Lufkin Texas...to Stanley and Mansfield in northern Toledo Bend country and over into Ringgold. Movement was to the east... northeast at 30 mph. Rainfall amounts over the next hour or two will range from a few hundreths of an inch just south of I-20...to maybe a tenth...to an isolated quarter of an inch in a thunderstorm. Aloft winds are brisk out of the southwest...so any downpour may gust surface winds to 30 mph as the secondary upper low over the Texas coastal Bend moves northeastward.

... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 PM
CDT this evening... for the four state region.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a lake Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening.

* Event... a tight pressure gradient associated with a surface low
pressure system moving across the plains toward the Tennessee
and Ohio valleys will produce strong and gusty winds of 15-20
mph with higher gusts to 25-30 mph.

* Timing... from 9 am to 7 PM CDT today.

* Impact... a rough chop may cause hazardous boating conditions on
area lakes and open waters.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing
after taking on water in the rough conditions.
