Showers and thunderstorms will move into the Plains, while also continuing across the East Coast on Friday. A low pressure system over the Rocky Mountains will persist on its eastward track and move into the Plains. Flow around this system will create northward flow, pulling abundant moisture and energy in from the Gulf of Mexico. This will allow for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop across the Southern Plains again on Friday, spreading northward through the Central and Northern Plains. There is a slight chance that these storms will turn severe across northeastern Colorado, into western Kansas and Nebraska. Large hail and strong winds are likely in these areas, with possibly a tornado or two.

Meanwhile in the East, a trough of low pressure and associated cold front will slowly move eastward and offshore the East Coast on Friday. This system will allow for showers and thunderstorms to persist from the Mid-Atlantic states through Maine. Severe thunderstorms are not likely in these areas, but periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds will persist as this system lingers over the Northeast through Friday night.

Out West, an area of low pressure continues spinning over the Pacific Northwest, maintaining onshore flow. This will bring more rain showers to Oregon and Washington, with snow showers possible at highest elevations.

Through noon CDT...a complex of numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to move east at 25 mph across The Hill Country...Rio Grande plains...and into the counties of the I-35 corridor. Locally heavy downpours of 1 to 2 inches...wind gusts to 40 mph...and frequent lightning can be expected with the stronger storms. Heaviest rainfall through noon can be expected along and south of Highway 90 from Uvalde to Castroville. The complex is expected to slowly weaken as the leading edge approaches a line from Liberty Hill to New Braunfels to Pleasanton.
