A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am Wednesday for all of the South Plains...rolling plains...and far southern Texas Panhandle. At 6 PM...an area of mixed rain and snow stretched from Morton to Tulia and was pushing west southwest at 20 mph. This band developed as a strong storm system continues to move over the region. Snowfall rates could briefly become heavy resulting in low visibilities and accumulations on grassy and elevated surfaces. Amounts should remain under one inch with Plainview... Tulia...Littlefield...and Abernathy having the best chances for seeing additional snowfall accumulations. Rainfall amounts in the mix should remain under one quarter of an inch. Additional areas of mixed precipitation can be expected to develop across the South Plains and rolling plains through 9 PM .

A mixture of rain... sleet and snow is likely today and tonight. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of sleet and snow are expected by around or shortly after daybreak on Wednesday.
