Special Statement
Statement as of 2:41 PM AKST on March 02, 2015

... Potential for blizzard conditions once again starting Tuesday
night and Wednesday...

Another strong cold front will move rapidly eastward across the
Arctic coast Tuesday night and Wednesday. However... this event
will be less severe than the recent system over the weekend. Strong
west winds will develop with the frontal passage on Tuesday night
and continue through Wednesday. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
are expected on the central Arctic coast. The combination of
strong winds and snow may create blizzard like conditions with
reduced visibility to less than a quarter of a mile.

Blizzard conditions on the eastern Arctic coast is also expected
but again not anticipated to be as severe as with the previous
system... with sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts as high
as 50 mph. Snow and blowing snow may produce whiteout conditions
with reduced visibility to near zero.

Although this event will not be as severe as the recent system... the
potential for blizzard conditions is high. People engaged in
outdoor activities should seek shelter before the blizzard begins.
Travel should be postponed until the blizzard conditions end.
