Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, May 23, 2013. A strong, large storm will continue making its way through the eastern third of the country on Thursday, producing more, active weather east of the Mississippi Valley. While the active weather is not likely to produce the severe thunderstorms that have greeted the country over the past several days, scattered thunderstorms will be likely, especially in the Southeast. In addition, moderate to occasionally heavy rain will move through the Northeast, followed by cool showers in the Ohio Valley and Upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, some moisture pushing into the Southern Plains could possibly instigate some severe thunderstorms in northern Texas and western Oklahoma. Due to this possibility, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather in the area for Thursday. This means residents in the area should prepare as if severe weather will develop, making any necessary preparations to protect life and property.

Also, a seasonably strong low pressure system will linger over the Pacific Northwest today, allowing wet weather to continue in the area. While rain will be the overwhelming precipitation due to this storm, a few snow showers will be possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades.

Additionally, rain will also spread as far east as central Montana.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures.

... Wind Advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 3 am PDT
Friday...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 3 am
PDT Friday.

* Winds... areas of west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
Isolated gusts to 55 mph.

* Location... near Mountain Ridge tops and along Desert Mountain
slopes extending into adjacent desert areas. Strongest winds in
the northern Coachella Valley and near the ridge tops of the San
Diego County mountains.

* Timing... strongest winds for late this afternoon through late
this evening... then gradually subsiding towards Friday morning.

* Visibility... in the deserts locally reduced in blowing sand and
blowing dust.

* Impacts... the winds will make driving difficult... especially for
motorists with high profile vehicles.

* Outlook... gusty west winds will continue each late afternoon
through late evening through the Holiday weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
