An area of moderate to occasionally heavy snow will continue across the the Washington metropolitan area...the Virginia Piedmont...and Anne Arundel County through 1130 PM EST. Accumulation of 1 to 2 inches can be expected...with isolated heavier totals possible. Visibility in periods of heavy snow will be reduced to under one half mile. Temperatures will gradually fall into the upper 20s this evening...with east winds around 5 mph expected to continue.

Wednesday...
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Wednesday.
* Precipitation type... snow.
* Accumulations... 7 to 14 inches.
* Timing... snow will continue through Wednesday evening. Heaviest
snow is expected Wednesday morning.
* Temperatures... around 30 late this evening... dropping into the
mid and upper 20s overnight and Wednesday.
* Winds... light east winds tonight. Winds will become northwest
Wednesday and increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 45 mph.
Blowing and drifting snow Wednesday will reduce visibilities near
a quarter mile at times... producing near-blizzard conditions.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. The combination of snow and strong winds
will make travel very hazardous.
