Nowcast | as of 9:12 am EDT on August 3, 2015

An area of low pressure drifting northeastward across north central Florida is focusing an area of moderate to heavy rain into the west Florida coast this morning. The eastern edge of this rain is currently spreading eastwards into Lake County and the Orlando Metro west of I-4. Areas of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall will continue to expand eastwards into the remainder of the Orlando Metro...Volusia...and northern Brevard counties through midday. A few embedded storms will be possible by midday as temperatures warm slightly despite extensive cloud cover. The East Coast sea breeze is expected to develop by midday along the space and Treasure coasts with scattered showers and storms develop along this boundary. Additional showers and storms may also push across the peninsula as the ongoing activity in west Florida kicks out several outflow boundaries. Locally heavy rainfall will be possibly with any activity today... especially with boundary collisions. Areas west of the I-4 corridor may also see persistent rainfall light to moderate through the day. Any of this activity may lead to some standing water on roadways or minor flooding. Storm movement will remain quick to the north- northeast at 20 to 25 mph...which will allow any stronger showers and storms to produce wind gusts to 40 to 50 mph.
