Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, February 15, 2012. A front will extend from southern Kyushu through southeast China on Wednesday, producing the most active weather in the continent. Moderate rain and thunderstorms will develop throughout the day from Hong Kong through Shanghai as the front remains nearly stationary over the region. As it extends into the East China Sea, precipitation will develop over open water and the Ryukyu Islands.

The air will get much colder in the Sea of Japan region, including over Japan itself. This will translate to a mixture of rain and snow over the southern half of Japan with Kyushu experiencing rain and southern Honshu receiving more snow than rain.

Very cold air in the eastern half of the continent will continue to surge southward into the Yellow Sea and Sea of Japan. This cold air will greatly reduce temperatures throughout the day from central China through Japan.

Typical showers and thunderstorms will continue for the Philippines and Indonesia.

Tokyo will rise into the lower 50s(F)/lower 10s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the mid-40s(F)/upper 0s(C). Seoul will rise into the mid-40s(F)/upper 0s(C).

For Australia, a mostly dry day is expected, which is welcomed news for parts of Queensland that has experienced flooding recently. A few showers will remain close to the coast, however, from Brisbane in the south through Cairns in the north. Melbourne and Sydney may also experience a shower or two, but this precipitation will not be widespread.

Sydney will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C). Brisbane will rise into the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C).
