Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 23, 2008. A developing low pressure system will move through the East China Sea and across the northern Ryukyu Islands before moving south of Kyushu. Because this low will occur at a relatively low latitude, it will produce significant precipitation in the northern Ryukyu Islands and into southern Kyushu. While no precipitation is expected in the rest of Japan due to an impinging high pressure system, a wet day is on tap for the country on Sunday.

Farther to the north, another low pressure system will begin to move through northern China towards the western Sea of Japan. It will gradually produce increasing precipitation in northern China late in the day and into Saturday.

Precipitation will gather in southeast China. This precipitation will include widespread rain and thunderstorms from Shanghai through the Gulf of Tonkin.

Tokyo will rise into the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C), while Shanghai will see temperatures in the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C). Seoul will risei nto the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C).

For Australia, a tight low pressure system will move along the coast of the western Great Australian Bight. This feature will produce showers in coastal areas.

A large high pressure system dominating the eastern portion of the country will keep moist flow along the east coast of the country.

Sydney will rise into the lower 60s(F)/upper 10s(C), while Melbourne will see temperatures in the upper 50s(F)/mid-10s(C). Brisbane will rise into the upper 60s(F)/lower 20s(C).
