Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 16, 2008. Virtually no shower and thunderstorm development is expected Friday. This suppression of precipitation will be due to a high pressure system that will remain anchored north of Cuba and Hispaniola. The most active showers and thunderstorms will develop over the northern extent of South America. Venezuela and Colombia will see the most of this precipitation.

Central America will also remain dry, aside from northern Mexico where a front will slide through the region.

The Gulf of Mexico will experience some precipitation in the afternoon and evening as a cold front moves into open water from the Gulf Coast of the United States.

For South America, a long arching cold front will move through southern Argentina and Chile. This area should see some significant precipitation throughout the day.

A high pressure system will slide off the southern coast of Brazil and promote dry weather from northern Argentina through Uruguay and southern Brazil.

Typical tropical moisture will produce showers and thunderstorms in the northern half of the continent.

Rio De Janeiro will rise into the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C), while Buenos Aires will see temperatures in the mid-60s(F)/upper 10s(C). Santiago will rise into the lower 70s(F)/lower 20s(C).
