It was clear most of the day, at least as late as 4:30PM. Went out to take a practice shot at 7:00PM and this smoke shelf was what I got instead of the moon. Sigh...

Complex fire near Happy Camp, CA. It started
August 5 as a result of lightening. Only 25
percent contained, it has consumed just under
14,000 acres.
This isn't nearly so bad as many of the other
fires, except that this one is in
extremely difficult terrain.
There are just under 600 personnel,
7 helicopters and 19 fire engines battling
to contain this fire.
I just hope the smoke is either totally
gone or very thin on Friday night for
the blue moon. Although, current forecast
is for partial cloudiness on Friday evening.
Oh, well.
CONGRATULATIONS, Julia !!!
The smoke itself isn't as bad as it has been.
It's just irritating now when I want to shoot
the moon .... no, I'm not playing Pinochle.
Thanks to the WU staff for the AC honor.
Congrats on the AC and for getting out there and capturing a nice photo!
I appreciate your notes.
