Thanks for looking and leaving a comment, Leslie and Eileen. Would you believe that this is not the original tree? Back when the barn was first built in 1856, it was built around a special elm tree. The even more famous Lafayette Elm stood just a short distance away. During reconstruction in the 20th century, they actually recreated the conditions, setting the barn a little further back to incorporate another tree!
