As my mom always said, dirt adds character.
Unless, apparently, it was in my room or behind my ears. I've always wondered what goes on behind my ears to get dirt there. I never saw it, but she was adamant. But anyway, the dirt on your window does add a lovely, um, grainy quality to this shot, rather like an intentional filter, and makes the scene feel more soft and personal.
So there you are! I would certainly suggest long deliberation before "wrecking" such a nice filter by scraping the "finish" off. :^)
