The white streaks on the beach are areas of intense sandblast. Winds at the time, during the beginning of the storm, were gusting to around 35 mph on the beach. A day later, after Ernesto passed, the beach ended up badly eroded by the tides and the windblown sand that blew off the beach and onto the island.
