Of AR1521,AR1520 & AR1519...X-FLARE! Big sunspot AR1520 unleashed an X1.4-class solar flare on July 12th at 1653 UT. Because the sunspot was directly facing Earth at the time of the blast, this is a geoeffective event. Stay tuned for updates about possible CMEs and radio blackouts. Solar flare alerts

REVISED FORECAST: The CME launched toward Earth by yesterday's X-flare is moving faster than originally thought. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab have revised their forecast accordingly, advancing the cloud's expected arrival time to 09:17 UT (5:17 am EDT) on Saturday, July 14th. Weekend auroras are likely. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

X-FLARE! Big sunspot AR1520 unleashed an X1.4-class solar flare on July 12th. Because the sunspot is directly facing Earth, everything about the blast was geoeffective. For one thing, it hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) directly toward our planet. According to a forecast track prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the CME will hit Earth on July 14th around 09:17 UT (+/- 7 hours) and could spark strong geomagnetic storms. An increase in the number of sun flares leads to an increase in the number of sunspots, and a decrease in the number of sun flares leads to a decrease in the number of sunspots.

UPDATE INFO & FORECAST!!!! STILL WAITING FOR THE CME: The CME launched toward Earth by the July 12th X-flare has not yet arrived. However, we are still within the forecast window set by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab. The cloud should hit at 09:17 UT plus or minus 7 hours on Saturday, July 14th. Weekend auroras are likely. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

SUNDAY MORNING SKY SHOW: Set your alarm for dawn on Sunday morning, July 15th. Venus, Jupiter and the crescent Moon are gathering for a bright three-way conjunction in the eastern sky before sunrise. Must-see! [video] [photos]

HOT COMET: Periodic comet 96P/Maccholz is passing by the sun today deep inside the orbit of Mercury. At closest approach, the icy visitor from the outer solar system will be less than 12 million miles (0.13 AU) from the solar surface. Coronagraphs onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory are monitoring the encounter: As per = www.spaceweather.com

DX should be great on the upper HF ham bands. 6 Meters can yield some startling results under these conditions!

About Ralfo
Ralfo ASSUMPTION, PERCEPTION, PREJUDGMENT and EVALUATION. This is my abstract Oil Painting, painted many years ago. I was creating a new style of painting for myself. It is of something very beautiful! This is not just about me but everyone. How we all perceive things. Can you still see that it was and still is Beautiful? It is of a Monarch Butterfly. No matter what happens to it or we, and how it has changed. Aren't we all still Beautiful as we change or get older??? I have alway asked myself many questions about why and how people look at things since I was very young.. What is it that makes something look beautiful or cute. Is it the converging of lines, curves, angles and pretty colors that are formed in a certain way? And! If They Are and or Change with broken and disordered lines, curves angles and color, we think of them as unpleasant, ugly or grotesque. Why do we prejudge and jump to conclusions in split seconds and evaluate without all the facts, past and present. When it comes to living things like people and animals that were beautiful INSIDE and Out and then get older aren't we all still the same person. Aren't we STILL BEAUTIFUL inside? It's all about your Perception. I placed this picture after many years of thinking of showing it. Being Afraid of Scaring people because of their prejudgment in seconds without all the facts. So I wrote what I did! We were all born without Choices! None! We all are what we are! So when we look at others realize they had no choices either. We should Never Prejudge Anyone from the way they look. And always look for the inner Beauty in Them and Everything. NEVER ASSUME! (Ralfo)
