Trinidad, CA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This sport used to be popular in southern California more than 50 years ago, but faded away. It's had a resurgence, and gotten a lot more advanced. The trick is to run at the water after a wave has washed up onto the sand, throw the board, jump on it, and glide out into the face of the incoming wave. It takes a lot of timing.

About Tsurai

Tsurai

I'm fortunate enough to live 'way up on the northwestern coast of northern California, an area sometimes referred to as The Humboldt Nation, or the land behind the redwood curtain. Work takes me on the road six months a year, but the rest of the time is mine to surf, kayak, fish, watch birds, and of course take photographs of this remarkable region.
