Like a diamond in the sky. Rubicon point's lighthouse. It was the highest elevation lighthouse on a navigational body of water in the entire world. Built in 1919 it was one of four navigational lamps built on Lake Tahoe. At a cost of $900. It had a flashing 70 candle power light , visible nearly 7 miles. In 1921 it was moved to its current location at sugar pine point.

Beautiful photo!! I lived in Lake Tahoe many years and it always presented great photo ops. Unfortunately, that period of time was pre-digital. Did you know that the water is 99.994% pure, making it one of the purest large lakes in the world? The water is so clear that a 10 inch white dinner plate would be visible at 75 feet below the surface. Great facts at: http://www.virtualtahoe.com/Community/TahoeFAQs.ht ml
