Hermiston, OR (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: My wife found this poor guy stuck in the turn on pipe for my new irrigation hook up. I got him out with an old grabber my wife used to use when her leg was in a cast (See the pic in this series.) It immediatly ran into an old unused concrete culvert.

Thank you everyone, and thank you Approvers! To give you an idea of how small this little one is, that's a 6 in. dia PVC pipe. I have to reach my whole 31 in. long arm into the pipe to turn my water on and off! Thanks again for your comments and visit! Steve

Thank you Katy, Colleen and November! I appreciate the visit! I covered the pipe with plywood and a cinder block so nothing else would get stuck in there. Also, my wife just got some photos of the mom near the old culvert the little guy escaped into. So, maybe there's a happy ending.

Thank goodness you were able to save it! Great series of photos! This is becoming a serious problem with birds too. See the following article: http://www.thewildlifenews.com/2012/04/27/1-milli on-birds-might-be-dying-each-year-due-to-pvc-minin g-claim-markers/

It would be nice if this were made into a VIP and/or AC photo to bring attention to this type of problem affecting wildlife.

About backwardguy

backwardguy

My wife of 40 years and I live in Hermiston OR. on a 5 acre "farmette". I have been an elementary school teacher for the last 26 years. I enjoy the outdoors and animals and I'm an avid (not a good) golfer. My wife and I take our motorcycles on long trips and our destinations are almost always the beautiful National parks in Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Utah, and last summer we added Arizona to the list. Photography has long been an interest of mine and many of my photos are taken on our little farmette, and on our motorcycle trips.
