Twilight shot of the Pole Creek Fire, last I heard it is 6000 acres and growing and is approx. 6 miles outside the town of Sisters, Oregon. Update: Just found out that the fire broke through fire lines and grew to over 12,000 acres. Caused it's own thunder storm last night. It was impressive to watch as the storm rolled through Central Oregon, not sure if any more fires were started.

Thanks Kathy & Wanda. I'm safe but the wind seems to be pushing the fire towards several sub-divisions.

This is everything a prizewinning photo should be: It tells a story with clarity, compelling drama and it is instantly branded in the brain as "the power of fire." Thank you so much for taking this great photo! Julie in Ohio

Beautiful picture. We can feel your pain, as the Waldo Canyon Fire was only 8 miles from where we live. Sad to see it is heading towards subdivisions.
