From the thumbnail, I thought this was a beach dune shot. Looks like a photo from the dust bowl era. Guess ya'll are still a little droughty up there. 10

An amazing picture that leaves me with a lot of questions. It appears that it is of a very dramatic drought or a lake that has dried up which of course would be same now, would it not.

Thanks everyone for the comments ! Thanks mellyweb for the youtube link ! My little story at the bottom of the pictute got cut off somehow . Anyway , I've always loved that song and part of the chorus goes " the storms of life are washin' me away ." Here in West Texas we have the dust storms of life . They do not have a pretty melody like Randy's song , but they do " wash " things away - like your sanity ( joking ) ! They are pretty irritating though .

OOPS , didn't answer your question Bernard . That is actually a section of land that hasn't been cultivated in quite some time . If farm land is left like that for long around here , a "sea" of sand will soon take it over . I don't know who donated the tractor tire but it seems appropriate for the scene .

Another really great shot. Years from now some historian will document this drought by using your photos. I guess you could use a storm that washes at least some of that dust away.

A marvelous capture, Tim! It almost looks like the seashore, except there's no water in sight. Love the ambience lent by the old tire and the fenceposts. 10+++++++++

Congratulations on an awesome AC!!

About docshovel39
docshovel39 Hello , my name is Tim . I live in the small farming community of Ropesville , Texas with my wife and photo partner Sherry . I got involved with photography because of my older brother Steve - a fantastic photographer who lives outside of Seattle , WA . My favorite work , apart from his , is a terrific book entitled " Ghosts in the Wilderness " by Tony and Eva Worobiec . It captures the remains of small , abandoned rural communities across the Midwest , much of it shot in black and white . I also have become a fan of photographer Jim McGuire . His black and white shots ( nashvilleportraits.com) are amazing . Thank you for your comments and have a GREAT day !
