John this is gorgeous! Funny how it looks to be at an awkward angle... from what I see where I live.

You really capture the sharpness of the craters.

Yep Katy - we are upside down and back to front. You don't realise just how difficult it is clinging on by our toes and hanging upside down. It's amazing the blood does not rush to our heads.

Great shot John, and LOL Great explanation on this as I would have been wondering about it myself,
Katy, I guess if you were there and wanting to shoot the moon, you would point your camera downward?!! Have to re-figure your camera settings!

Often wondered why North was up, maybe it was the Vikings that started it. If it was the Ausie's - South would be up, which would make the Mississippi flow uphill...?

Gil I'd probably end up pointing the camera backwards, at myself!

John I could do with a little better circulation to my brain, (!) maybe I should get down there and I'd become smart! :P

Seriously though, this is a great moon shot.

Have a look at the afternoon shot posted not long after this shot for the northern perspective. I'll try fo a southern afternoon shot a little later myself. :-)

Duane, we used to have a big map on a billboard at Auckland Airport a few years ago.

Thanks all for joining in the fun.

Yours is much nicer Charlotte. I think I'll throw my camera away - it's superfluous. :-) or :-(

Katy - you must stop giving me complimentary comments like that. :-)

And, if you have reached today already, you better hurry and get some sleep before the sun comes up again.

LOL
Just invert the photo and it would look normal to us on the top side. Good point Duane, who decided which why is up?

I guess deciding who was up, and who was not, happened a long long time ago Don. Probably stemmed from there being more civilization in the northern hemisphere, and they were obviously standing upright.
