Nicely composed, James.
I am surprised to see that MI is so far ahead of southern NH. I would not have guessed that your climate is warmer than ours.

Lovely flowers, James, but this is not phlox, which has five petals. This is either Dame's Rocket or Silver Dollar Plant (Money Plant), both of which have similar purple flowers with four petals like this.

Thank you everyone, so much, for all of the kind words!! Thank you Kathy for the correction. I wonder which it is. These are growing wild, and there are some white colored, and a more light purple, as well, in the same area.

See what you think, James! According to what I read, Dame's Rocket has long, thin seed pods whereas Money Plant has flat, round pods that when rubbed open, make silvery disks that are quite decorative. If the plants you found were growing wild, I rather think they were Dame's Rocket, as the Silver Dollar or Money Plant is more often found in gardens. The leaves are also somewhat different.

Dame's Rocket or Hesperis

Silver Dollar Plant or Lunaria

Okay Kathy, I definitely say it is Dame's Rocket, especially because of the seeds. Thanks for the clarification!! Here are some white ones near by:

About gardner48197
gardner48197 4/2013: Greetings from Michigan, where we get a wide variety of weather changes throughout the four seasons! I originally found this site for the weather, and the photos kept drawing my interest! Decided to get my first digital camera in 2010, and have since upgraded to a Nikon L120/P520, which has helped photography become my favorite hobby! I have always loved the outdoors, and now I have a perfect excuse to get out and explore nature! What a great community here, so many excellent photographers and friends, so little time! I would like to thank everyone who contributes, for all of the great inspiration and feedback! Sometime down the road I would still like to get a DSLR camera, but for now I just I hope to send a small view of life from the Great Lakes State. Home of the Michigan Wolverines! Go Blue! -James
