this local Federal Era mansion has slowly begun to decay, no longer used, even the grounds are returning to nature with wild flowers at its front...if this building is not restored it will be a sad loss to the community

its quite old, and later additions to it destroyed the rear roofline and dental trim an entire section was added on in the 1950's ..not even close to match ..thanks for comment

For a while it was NTL Institute for Tantric Arts...originally it was a sanitorium for people to respit from the main stream life of 1900's turn of the century NYC

Beautiful picture but not quite sure flowers are lupines. They look too small. They look very similar to flowers I have in a part of my yard here in Maine and those are definately not lupines.

...well, i will inquire ...to my neighbor as last year this same patch were 2-3 feet tall in late June..but i'll agree these could be something else..only because i am not much a flower expert :-)

I did change the title to reflect Purple Flowers ...not Early Lupine fyi :-)

those are Ajuga..a creeping groundcover..they make short spikes of purple flowers..and they are just about past their prime now..I know this old house..we stayed at a B&B almost next door this past Winter..a very lovely property..I certainly hope someone in town steps 'up to the plate'..Bethel is such a lovely little village..:)

memahat I have enjoyed photography as a hobby in my youth and teens, was professionally educated in photography and graphic arts, and was gainfully employed in the photographic trades for 30 years. Recently I like most everyone else has discovered the ease of digital photography, and I find myself having to re-learn many of the exposure tricks that I had become quite confidant with , using film, and now having to apply that science to EV control and noise control, and new terms I never knew in the photographic darkroom. Its a very enjoyable experience.
