I am so impressed. How do you collect yourself enough to shoot a photo of something as spectacular as this? Kudos to you for a fine eye, a sense of timing, and the ability to pull yourself out of the moment enough to capture this glorious photo.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. It can be cold at times out in the night, but it is such a delight to be out watching the aurora do its dance across the sky.

You can plug in 70.26N -150.24W to see our place on google earth. Just a few miles from the Arctic Ocean in northern Alaska

You are so lucky to live in Alaska where you have fabulous Auroras daily! They are so beautiful and you captured one superbly! I live in Illinois and we see them once in a while. I have personally seen Auroras here 3 times in my life and I am 60.

I can't even find the words to describe how incredible this photo is. I would love to see the auroras some day. I just don't think I could take the cold but I'd sure love to visit someday. Thanks for sharing this beautiful sight with all of us here. I for one absolutely love it.

Let me add my "awesome" in with all the rest.
Living in Minnesota, we get to see auroras too.
But solar storms have been quiet the last year and we have not seen any in a long while. I see that some solar activity is heating up, so maybe we will see some auroras here too. But ours are usually just white, sometimes with a hint of pink or blue. Never any as beautiful as this!!
