Growing in my backyard, I thought they were wild grapes (thanks Kathy/ChrisAnthemum for the ID). They are very similar but have a split bark, greenish flowers, and colorful berries, unlike wild grapes. I've read they are edible, but have no flavor. (edited, 8/6)

Kevin, hate to disillusion you, but those are those same porcelain berries that I recently posted in my own gallery. Pretty, but not edible. The ones I photographed have variegated leaves but the species has plain green ones, and they do look rather like grape leaves.

Thanks Kathy, I'll take another look at them. They seemed to be wild grape vines because they fit the identification notes here: www.ehow.com/how_7563719_identify-wild-grape-vines .html

Wonderful colors! Maybe it would be good if you can't eat them - they look so pretty :)

About tamcat
tamcat My name is Kevin N. Weinhold, and somehow I ended up posting photos on an account with my wife's nickname (sorry for any confusion!). I used to think that photos were too two-dimensional, not really capturing the real person or scene, but now I understand why: without God we are all two-dimensional, but there is a much richer world behind those photos. I hope you find something in my photos beyond my view of God's creation; I'm looking forward to seeing your photos, too!
