LA County Fire Department search and rescue dogs and their firefighter handlers pose for one last picture at the LA County FD warehouse facility in Pacoima, Ca before boarding buses for the trip to March Air Force Base and then on to Haiti to help in the rescue of hundreds still trapped. The dogs are specially trained to locate victims buried in rubble. They are part of the LA County Task Force 2, Urban Search and Rescue Team who, along with counterparts in Fairfax, Va, are the first called to respond to any disaster worldwide.

Good Luck, and all the Best. A safe return and a BIG THANK YOU for all the hard work you are doing with the dogs. SAR work is one of the toughest things a dog team can do. I'm can say, I'm proud to be an American when such fine teams are deployed to help during disaster. America at her best. Thank you!

Thank God for folks like these who put their own lives and safety aside to assist others in times of need. I think we Americans, with all of our faults, are always quick to respond and put forth our best in times of disaster. People helping people. Thank you Fotoguy for documenting this send-off and God bless all the men and women heading to Haiti to assist in the disaster relief there. You are special angels. ~Helen

I have much respect for those who are willing to work with animals. How sad that many humans cannot understand the complexity of such creatures. I want to 1. Thank the firefighters for their heroic stance from "ANY' emergency they have to encounter, but most for working with unconditional species as the Canine.

Thank you for your hard work and your duty to save those in need, and then some...Great photos

Thank you for sharing and for the men and women who so selflessly help people in need. It's so sad to see all the devastation in Haiti, the poverty, suffering, and I feel so helpless. Thank God we have people who are trained and brave to help others in need. As I was falling asleep last night in a warm bed, I thoughtand prayed for the thousands who are waiting for medical help and just for the basics; food, water and shelter. God Bless You!
