There must be lots of iron in those red sandstones; could be what gives them that beautiful red color. Reminds me of the beautiful red soil in PEI =)) I'm sure you'll be returning for more discoveries !!! DarkBroomer Action: \| Ignore User

DarkBroomer I worked in an Iron Ore mine for 33 years. These rocks are not iron ore. I brought home a beach rock. Maybe I can find someone who can fill me in on what type of rock it is. Gary Action: \| Ignore User

Once again, Gary - a beauty! Love the red rocks - are they the material from which the Beothuk got their red ochre which led to their identity as the Red Paint People? Action: \| Ignore User

Kennebunker Once again thank you for your commesnt and feed back. From www.heritage.nf.ca/aboriginal/beothuk "Beothuk traditionally painted their faces and bodies with a mixture of red ochre and grease. When genuine ochre was not at hand, they used reddish soil with a high iron content that stains well. The ochre colour was a mark of tribal identity and the first coat, given to infants, was regarded as a sign of initiation. It also had a religious connotation." Gary Action: \| Ignore User

Congratulations on the beautiful catch Gary! The red outcrop almost looks like interstitial chert. Are there limestone cliffs in the area? Chert is commonly associated with LS. Action: \| Ignore User
