Thanks for commenting, Joel! Actually, those feathery saplings are Ailanthus or Tree of Heaven, which despite their name and graceful appearance are a terrible weed pest in the area, spreading through thousands of seeds cast from each mature tree every year. They're about as thick as poison ivy in this neck of the woods.
