Issued: 1:43 PM PST Jan. 17, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PST Saturday...

* surf... 5 to 9 feet with sets 10 to 12 feet today lowering to 4
to 7 feet early Thursday with locally higher sets. Surf will
increase to 6 to 10 feet with sets to 13 feet Friday and
Saturday. Highest sets in southern San Diego County and north of
Newport Beach in Orange County.

* High tides at la jolla: 5.60 ft at 9:11 am Thursday, 5.41 ft at
9:42 am Friday, and 5.07 ft at 10:16 am Saturday.

* Impacts... large breaking waves, very strong rip currents,
waves overtopping jetties and coastal rock formations and
sneaker waves. Minor coastal flooding and beach erosion during
high tides. Greatest threat of coastal flooding this morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents, beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
