* Timing... snow will continue through the night and end Wednesday
morning.

* Snow accumulation... 3 to 5 inches.

* Winds... west 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Impacts... low visibility in periods of snow and blowing snow
will make travel difficult with hazardous conditions expected
through tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or
blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

avalanche warning.

* affected areas... Elk and West Elk Mountains... Ruby Range... Grand
Mesa... San Juan Mountains... Uncompahgre Plateau... La Garita
Mountains... and Sangre de Cristo Range.

* Avalanche danger... the avalanche danger is high.

* Reason... an exiting winter storm deposited ample new snow fall
onto a weak snowpack. Avalanche conditions are very dangerous.
Natural and human triggered avalanches are likely on slopes
steeper than about 30 degrees.

* Precautionary/preparedness actions... backcountry travel is not
recommended. Backcountry travelers should stay off of... and out
from underneath... slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
