Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:31 AM HST Aug. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* flood advisory for...
the island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* until 630 am HST.

* At 324 am HST, radar indicated heavy rain developing over the
koolaus with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Water levels in
nearby streams have already begun to rise and will likely continue
over the next couple of hours.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Ahuimanu, Punaluu, Hauula, Kailua, Maunawili, Kaneohe, Waikane,
Kaneohe marine base, Waiahole, Kahaluu, and Laie.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 630 am HST if heavy rain
persists.
