* what... freezing rain possibly mixed with sleet at times. Ice
accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch and minor sleet
accumulations are expected.

* Where... lake IL, dupage, Cook, will and Kankakee counties.

* When... until 6 am CST Wednesday.

* Additional details... the ice will result in difficult travel
conditions, including during the morning commute on Wednesday.
Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while

Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 8:52 PM CST Feb. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Kankakee River at Momence.
* Until further notice.
* At 745 PM Tuesday the stage was 6.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 8.0 feet by
Wednesday evening then begin falling.
* Impact... at 7.0 feet... damage begins in river Isle subdivision
approximately 4 miles upstream of Momence.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Iroquois river near Chebanse.
* From late tonight to late Sunday night.
* At 745 PM Tuesday the stage was 14.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Wednesday and continue
to rise to near 20.5 feet by Thursday evening.

... A Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams remains in
effect until 1045 am CST Wednesday/1145 am EST Wednesday/ for
Kendall... La Salle... dupage... Cook... southern Boone... Livingston...
Southern Lake... Ogle... will... Lee... De Kalb... southern Winnebago...
Grundy... Kankakee... Ford... Kane... Iroquois... southern McHenry...
Benton... Porter... Newton... Lake and Jasper counties...

At 338 PM CST/438 PM EST/... Doppler radar and trained weather
spotters observed heavy rainfall of two to four inches across the
warned area with flooding likely occurring. Additional heavy
rainfall is expected into tonight and will likely worsen the ongoing
flooding. Flash flooding will remain a possibility in parts of the
warned area due to the additional heavy rainfall.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Wednesday...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Illinois and Indiana, including the following
areas, in Illinois, Cook, dupage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois,
Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Livingston, and will. In Indiana,
Benton, Jasper, Lake in, Newton, and Porter.

* Until 6 am CST /7 am EST/ Wednesday

* periods of rain will continue across the area tonight. The
highest additional rainfall amounts up to an inch will primarily
southeast of Interstate 57. This is on top of what has already
fallen.

* The ground remains frozen, therefore additional rain will
result in rapid runoff. Rises on area rivers and streams will
likely continue that will result in additional flooding.
Flooding of low lying areas and on roadways near flood prone
areas will also continue to be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
