Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 3:53 AM EST Nov. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* all of central North Carolina, including the following areas,
Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham,
Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax,
Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange,
person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Vance,
wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.

* Through this 700 PM this evening.

* Rain will continue this morning and into the afternoon. Rain
will become heavy at times, with storm total amounts of one to
two inches. Finally, the rain will taper off to areas of drizzle
later this afternoon and early evening.

* The heavy rain falling on already-saturated ground will runoff
quickly. Streams, creeks, lakes, and rivers were already running
high or are already in flood. This rain event will create
additional flooding or exacerbate the flooding already ongoing.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and be alert for
possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
