... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to
9 PM MDT this evening...

* location... from the central and south central mountains and
Highlands westward to the Arizona border, as well as the
higher peaks and east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo
Mountains, and the Chuska Mountains. This advisory excludes
the San Francisco River Valley.

* Winds... west and southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50
mph.

* Timing... winds will strengthen around mid day, then become
hazardous during the afternoon. Speeds should peak in strength
in the mid to late afternoon, then weaken through early evening,
except at the highest elevations where strong winds may persist
through tonight.

* Visibility... locally reduced at times in dust prone locations.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will impact north-to-south
roads, like I-25 southward from Bernalillo through Socorro.
Light-weight and unsecured objects may become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

for high winds and low relative humidity for fire weather zone

* wind... west-southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

* Humidity... 7 to 12 percent.

* Highest threat... along ridgelines, through passes and gaps
and down east slopes where wind speeds will be highest.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* area and timing... much of northern and central New Mexico below
significant snowpack, beginning late this morning and
continuing into this evening before diminishing.

* 20 foot winds... generally west 20 to 35 mph with gusts to near
50 mph.

* Relative humidity... 5 to 10 percent below snowpack.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
