High Wind Watch

... High wind watch in effect Sunday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a high
wind watch, which is in effect Sunday afternoon.

* Timing... Sunday afternoon.

* Winds... west 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 55 mph.

* Impacts... these winds will make driving difficult for
motorists driving high profile vehicles such as campers, vans,
and tractor trailers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.





Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 3:26 PM CST Jan. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 7 PM CST Sunday for the Permian
Basin for strong winds... minimum rh values near 15 percent and
high to very high fire danger...

The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a red
flag warning, which is in effect from noon to 7 PM CST Sunday.
The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Wind... west 25 to 35 mph with much higher gusts.

* Humidity... 15 percent.

* Fuels... high to very high very danger.

* Impacts... accidental ignitions will have the potential
to grow rapidly into dangerous wind-driven wildfires.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not throw cigarettes onto the ground or out of a moving
vehicle. Keep vehicles on driving surfaces and do not drive
through tall grass.
