The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 6 PM CST
this evening.

* Timing... 11 am to 6 PM

* winds... west at 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

* Impacts... motorists, particularly of high profile vehicles and
on north to south oriented roads, will be buffeted by cross
winds. Areas of blowing dust will also reduce visibilities,
especially downwind of open fields and construction zones.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are
expected. Adjust travel and outdoor activities accordingly.




Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 3:25 AM CST Jan. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST this
evening for the rolling plains... the South Plains... and the
extreme southeastern Panhandle for 20 foot winds of 20 mph or
more... relative humidities of 15 percent or less and a high fire
danger...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a red flag
warning, which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST this
evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Humidity... 10 to 15 percent.

* Fuels... critically dry.

* Impacts... any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are imminent or already occurring. These conditions can create
rapid wildfire growth.
